New York is considered to be one of the top destinations for higher education, not just in the nation, but in most of the world. Finger Lakes Community College, also known as FLCC, is a college located in Hopewell, New York. The school is also affiliated with the State University of New York. The school’s main campus is located in Hopewell, just east of Canandaigua City. The school serves the needs of several counties, including Wayne County, Yates County, Seneca County and Ontario County in the Finger Lakes region of the state. It also features satellite locations in Victor, Geneva, and Newark.
The school was first established in 1965 and opened its doors in 1967 as the Community College of the Finger Lakes, the featured campus in Canandaigua. The college is located on 250 acres of park land just outside Canandaigua, in Hopewell, New York. The main campus is home to the Constellation Brands- Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center. The college also features student housing near the main campus. FLCC also runs the Muller Field Station at the south end of Honeoye Lake, which is used as an outdoor education facility, and the East Hill Campus, the side of the college’s Wildland Fire Suppression Program.
Finger Lakes Community College offers programs in Wildland Fire Suppression, Athletic Training, Biology, Business Administration, Chemical Dependency Counseling, Coaching, Communications, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, e-Commerce (online), EMT-Paramedic, Engineering Science, Environmental Studies, Fine Arts, Game Programming and Design, Graphic Design, Accounting, Humanities, Human Nutrition and Food, Human Services, Information Systems, Information Technology, Liberal Arts and Sciences, Applications, Marketing, Mathematics, Music, Natural Resource Conservation, New Media, Nursing, Outdoor Recreation, Physics, Social Science, Taxidermy, Theatre Arts, Viticulture and Wine Technology, and an Honors Program.
FLCC is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III, and competes in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. FLCC also competes against two-year institutions throughout the state. The school fields teams in Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Lacrosse, Soccer, Track, Softball and Volleyball. The school colors are Blue and Green and the School nickname are the Lakers.
